The Tiko Council has distributed rice donated by the Ministry of Territorial Administration (MINAT) to vulnerable members of the community.

The distribution took place today, Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the Tiko Council Banquet Hall and brought together persons living with disabilities, widows, orphans, and internally displaced persons (IDPs) who benefited from the assistance, alongside administrative authorities in Tiko.

The donation is part of efforts by the Ministry of Territorial Administration to provide support to vulnerable populations and help ease some of the challenges faced by persons in difficult circumstances.

Speaking during the distribution, the Mayor of Tiko Council, HRH Chief Dr. Peter Ikome Mesoso III, reiterated the importance of supporting vulnerable members of society, particularly those facing increased economic and social difficulties.

 “We must always stand by our vulnerable population. This gesture from MINAT through the Tiko Council is to show that the State thinks about them and we will continue to be by their side,” the Mayor stated.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Government and the Tiko Council for the timely support, noting that it will go a long way to assist their families.

The exercise also underscores the role of local councils in working with government institutions to respond to the needs of vulnerable populations within their municipalities.
