LIMBE – Youth representatives from Zonal Committees and Council Development Officers from Tiko and Idenau Councils have received training on social accountability and community-based monitoring of development projects aimed at strengthening transparency and citizen participation in local governance.

The one-day capacity-building workshop, organized by the Inter Faith Vision Foundation Cameroon (IVFCam), was held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at the Limbe I Council Conference Hall.

The training focused on equipping young people with the knowledge and skills needed to promote transparency, accountability, and meaningful citizen participation in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of council development projects.

Participants also revisited the Human Rights Monitoring, Documentation and Reporting Form to strengthen their ability to identify, document, and report human rights concerns within their respective communities.

Facilitators further emphasized the important role of Village Committees in promoting community participation and ensuring effective monitoring of council development initiatives.

The workshop concluded with a practical session during which participants demonstrated how the reporting tools are used in their various communities, providing an opportunity to share experiences and best practices.

Tiko Council was represented by its Head of Local Solutions, Mr. Sone Julius, accompanied by 22 youths drawn from Village Committees across the municipality.

The training forms part of a broader initiative aimed at promoting youth engagement and leadership in advancing democratic principles, strengthening local governance, and supporting post-conflict reconstruction in the Anglophone regions of Cameroon.
