Watchdog Tribune Honors Tiko Council Mayor HRH Dr. Peter Ikome Mesoso III With International Golden Star Award

The Mayor of Tiko Council, HRH Dr. Peter Ikome Mesoso III, has been honored with the Watchdog Tribune Media Corporation International Golden Star Award 2025 for excellence in council management.

The award was presented to the “Shepherd of Tiko Municipality” on Friday, July 31, 2026, during a ceremony at Hotel Royal Palace in Douala. The event brought together administrative, political, and religious leaders from across the country.

Recognized for Excellence in Council Management

HRH Dr. Peter Ikome Mesoso III received the award in recognition of his role as a model in council management and local development.

Described by supporters as the “locomotive for Tiko’s emergence,” the Mayor has continued to receive recognition since assuming leadership of Tiko Council in 2020.

A Growing Record of Recognition

The latest distinction adds to a series of awards attributed to Mayor Mesoso III’s leadership and the achievements of Tiko Council.

He was recently voted Best Mayor by the African Excellence Communication Organization (ACOM 2025) in the categories of Local Development, Patriotic Merit, and Political Movement. He received the award on July 2, 2026, during a ceremony at the Tiko Council Banquet Hall.

Throughout his mandate, Mayor HRH Dr. Peter Ikome Mesoso III has received several individual and collective recognitions, including:

  • AFRIKCOM Award as Best Mayor Nationwide — twice
  • Clean City Award for the South West Region — 2023 and 2026
  • Fourth Place Nationally in the National Clean City Award held in Garoua in 2023

Distinguished Guests Attend Ceremony

The award ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Sir Dr. Barrister Ntumfor Nico Halle, Maître Alice Kom, the Mayors of Kumba II and Limbe I Councils, the Divisional Officer of Tubah, the Divisional Officer of Douala V, Dr. Anuafor Cletus, Deputy Mayors, and Councillors of Tiko Council, among others.

The event also featured an artistic performance by Awilo IPP.

The recognition further adds to the growing list of honors received by Mayor Mesoso III, as he continues to promote the development agenda of Tiko Municipality.
