The mayor of Tiko Council, HRH Peter Ikome Mesoso III is the winner of the Communal Express Media Award for best local Governance in Development. The award ceremony that took place on Friday August 30, 2024 at the Tiko Council banquet hall was chaired by the Divisional officer for Tiko representative, the assistant Divisional officer Mr Elvis Egbe in the presence of Councillors of Tiko Council, Traditional authorities, Council workers, Ombe Old Students Association, Zonal Chairpersons and Economic stakeholders of the council. The communal Express Media Award which Tiko Council Mayor, HRH Peter Ikome Mesoso won was part of Decentralization and local Development activities carried out by mayor of councils nationwide since their madate in 2020. According to Communal Express Media, the nation was divided into three zones( Grand North made up of the Adamawa, North and Far North regions; Grand Centre made up of the centre, East and South regions and the Grand West made up of the litoral, West, North west and south West regions). Of the three zones a mayor was chosen from each with Tiko Council Mayor, HRH Peter Ikome Mesoso III winning the national contest.
Tiko Council Mayor, HRH Peter Ikome Mesoso III winning the Communal Express Media Award for best local Governance Achievement nationwide was based on five criterias such as; Decentralization implementation, Anti Corruption drive, payment of workers salary as well as Development whereby Tiko municipality has been transformed with the creation of roads, farm to market road, pipeborne water to the community, construction of classes , health facilities, bridges and others.
It should be noted that Tiko council under mayor HRH Peter Ikome Mesoso III recorded 95 percent and came first in transparency and local Development governance of the over 360 councils nationwide.
Since the reign of mayor HRH Peter Ikome Mesoso III, Tiko Council has been on the limelights grabbing many awards such as emerging fourth in the 2023 national clean city award, grabbing the 2023 best South West mayor award and others.
