Traffic in Mutengene will soon be history…says Mayor HRH Dr Peter Ikome Mesoso III as Pavement of the road at police station through Tomato Market is in high gear

The mayor of Tiko council, HRH Dr Peter Ikome Mesoso III has reiterated that soon the issue of traffic in mutengene will be history.

He made the statement on Monday January 5, 2026 in mutengene when works at the road from Electric line Transformer Police Station Buea road Mutengene through Electric line Tomato Market Tiko road started.

The construction of this stretch of road which is in Two phases according to Mayor Mesoso III, will see phase one focusing on the construction of Drainage System to control the running water because of its high volume from the Mutengene Police Station to Tomato Market, filling of the road and Compaction, while phase two will be the pavement of the road.

It should be noted that this stretch of road contract was awarded in 2025 but after awarding and installing the contractor at the sites, he later fell sick and died so the work stopped.

Due to lobbying by Mayor Mesoso III, the Ministry of Decentralization and Local Development gave credits for the work to be carried out thats why the pressure is high for the first phase to take 15 days to be completed for cars to start using the road and later the second phase which is pavement.

Tiko council and his team ( chief of Technical Service, Town Planning, Municipal Police , Hygiène and sanitation, Communication), among others with a bulldozer were at the site on Monday January 5, 2026 working on the road.
